What I'll Fight For Every Day

These aren't talking points — they're commitments. Here's exactly what I'll prioritize as your school board representative.

Priority #1

Academic Excellence for Every Learner

A diploma from Escondido should mean something — a genuine credential that opens doors to college or a career. Right now, too many students are graduating without the skills or options they deserve. I'll push hard for curriculum and support systems that actually prepare young people for the world they're about to enter, regardless of their background, learning style, or which side of the district they live on.

Specific Commitments

  • Conduct a full curriculum audit across all disciplines and modernize content to reflect current academic standards, critical thinking skills, and real-world application — not just what's always been taught
  • Expand early intervention, tutoring, and mentorship programs so students who are falling behind get targeted support before they fall too far — not after it's too late
  • Invest in teacher recruitment, competitive compensation, and meaningful professional development so Escondido attracts and keeps the best educators in the region
  • Build out robust career and technical education (CTE) pathways — in trades, technology, healthcare, and the arts — alongside a rigorous academic program so students graduate prepared for both college and career.
  • Audit and close the resource gap between schools across the district so that a student's financial circumstances in no way determines the quality of their educational choices
Priority #2

Student Mental Health & Well-Being

One in five teenagers experiences a serious mental health condition — yet most schools still treat counselors as scheduling assistants rather than mental health professionals. In Escondido, our students deserve better. I will fight to expand counseling staff and social workers at every district school site, and make sure real mental health resources are available on every campus — not just listed in a policy document.

Specific Commitments

  • Expand licensed counseling staff and social workers at every school site in the district, targeting the nationally recommended 1:250 student-to-counselor ratio — and ensuring counselors are focused on student care, not administrative scheduling
  • Establish real, dedicated mental health resources at each school site — staffed wellness centers where students can access counseling, crisis support, and referrals without stigma or barriers
  • Provide trauma-informed care training for every teacher, administrator, and campus staff member so students in crisis are met with support — not discipline
  • Build formal partnerships with local mental health organizations and county services to extend care beyond school hours — including evening and weekend access for students and families
  • Launch a Student Wellness Advisory Committee that will involve young people when the district makes decisions about programs, policies, and campus culture
Priority #3

Community Transparency & Accountability

Too many school board decisions happen behind closed doors, in language parents can't parse, about finance and budgets that are hard to interpret and understand. That ends with me on the board. Families in Escondido pay taxes, send their children to our schools, and deserve a board that treats them as a member of the same team — not as a spectator. I will make transparency a standard, not a talking point.

Specific Commitments

  • Publish plain-language budget summaries every year — no jargon, no buried line items — so any parent can understand exactly where the money goes and why
  • Hold quarterly community meetings in neighborhoods across the district, not just at the district office, at various times of the day and evening so more Escondido residents are given an opportunity to be heard
  • Create a clear, public-facing process for community concerns — with committed response timelines — so families know their voices are received, reviewed, and answered
